The JUI-F leader is requesting the government to honor the constitutional rights of the PTI.

In a lively speech at the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) voiced support for PTI’s right to hold public gatherings, considering it a constitutional entitlement.

This marked Maulana Fazl’s first address in the assembly since the new government was formed, where he strongly criticized various aspects of Pakistan’s political landscape.

Maulana Fazl expressed concerns about the state of democracy in Pakistan, highlighting the parliament’s inability to pass laws independently, leading to a loss of parliamentary supremacy. He also criticized the impact of martial laws on democratic foundations, which he believed weakened the country’s governance.

During his speech, Maulana Fazl supported Asad Qaiser’s demand for PTI’s right to organize public events, viewing it as a fundamental constitutional right. This stance received approval from PTI lawmakers in the National Assembly. Additionally, Maulana Fazl expressed disappointment with the government’s response to terrorism and foreign affairs, citing incidents where his party members faced violence during election campaigns and the government’s muted response to Israeli actions in Palestine. He announced plans for large-scale protests in Karachi and Peshawar to challenge what he deemed an unacceptable governance system.
