The names of several PTI leaders, including Murad Saeed, Omar Ayub, and Fawad Ch, have been taken off the ECL.

The government of Pakistan has recently made a significant decision regarding several leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

These leaders, including Murad Saeed, Omar Ayub, and Fawad Chaudhry, have had their names removed from the Exit Control List (ECL). The ECL is a system of border control maintained by the Government of Pakistan under an ordinance that restricts certain people from leaving the country.

The cabinet made this decision, the highest decision-making body in the country, based on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The NAB is Pakistan’s top anti-corruption organization, tasked with the responsibility of eliminating corruption through a holistic approach of awareness, prevention, and enforcement.

The leaders who have been granted relief from the ECL include several prominent figures. Among them are KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Ghulam Sarwar, Parvez Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood, Ijaz Shah, Ali Zaidi, Khusro Bakhtiar, Azam Swati, Asad Umar, Omar Ayub, Mehboob Sultan, Fawad Chaudhry, Farog Naseem, and Shireen Mazari. These individuals now have the freedom to travel outside the country without any restrictions.

Not all PTI leaders have been removed from the ECL. The names of PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, Farahat Shahzadi, and Zulfi Bukhari are still on the list. This means that these individuals are still subject to travel restrictions.

The PTI leaders were originally added to the ECL at the request of the National Accountability Bureau. This was in connection with a case related to Al Qadir University Trust. The details of this case have not been disclosed, but it’s clear that the decision to add these leaders to the ECL was a significant move. Now, with the recent removal of several names from the list, it will be interesting to see how this impacts the political landscape in Pakistan.
