The privatization of PIA and the restructuring of FBR have been approved.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) before June 15 and endorsed the restructuring plan of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The plan includes dividing PIA into two entities and addressing its significant debt. The FBR restructuring involves creating two new organizations – the Federal Customs Board and the Federal Inland Revenue Board – under the Revenue Division.

The prime minister also directed the hiring of foreign consultants to modernize FBR and expressed dissatisfaction with involving the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) in the digitization exercise.

The FBR restructuring aims to improve compliance and increase revenues.
