The US sues Apple for bullying the phone market and hurting competition.

The US government is taking action against Apple, accusing them of controlling the smartphone market too much.

They believe Apple is hurting smaller companies that make phones and also making phone prices higher for everyone. This isn’t the first time the government has gone after big tech companies – they’ve also looked into Google, Facebook (now Meta), and Amazon.

The government says Apple charges way too much for iPhones, with some costing as much as $1,599! They also say Apple makes more money on phones than any other company. But that’s not all – they claim Apple is secretly charging extra fees to other businesses that work with them, like app makers, credit card companies, and even competitors like Google. These extra fees, they say, eventually make phone prices higher for regular people and give Apple even more profit.

Remember how Apple used to be a smaller company in the computer market? Back then, they already charged more for their products and controlled almost everything about how you could use them. Now, the government wants to change that for phones. They want Apple to give people more options for how apps work on iPhones, which could mean more competition and potentially lower prices. As a result of this lawsuit, Apple’s stock price went down a bit.
