Three new judges were appointed to the Supreme Court.

According to the notification, Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan of LHC have been appointed to the Supreme Court.

The notification stated: “The President of Pakistan, under Article 177(1) of the Constitution, is pleased to appoint” these judges.

Last week, the parliamentary committee confirmed their nominations for the Supreme Court, following their nomination by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).

The law ministry appointed Justice Shujaat Ali Khan and Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui as acting Chief Justices of LHC and SHC, respectively, until the JCP appoints regular chief justices.
