UAE

Karachi: In a recent development, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a stern warning to Pakistanis residing in or visiting the Gulf state. The UAE government has made it clear that any Pakistani found spreading propaganda against their country, institutions, or politicians will face severe consequences, including visa denial and potential deportation.

Envoy’s Strong Message: Bakheet Ateeq al-Remeithi, the UAE Consul General in Karachi, addressed this issue, urging Pakistanis to avoid bringing their political differences to Dubai. He highlighted that the UAE is home to people from over 200 countries, all coexisting peacefully regardless of their religions and nationalities. With the Pakistani community in the UAE now exceeding 1.8 million, the consul general emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony and respecting the laws of the host country.

Social Media Surveillance: The UAE authorities have been closely monitoring social media activities and have taken strict action against individuals found guilty of spreading anti-state propaganda. Bakheet revealed that several Pakistanis have been arrested, sentenced to life imprisonment, and subsequently deported for their involvement in such activities. He warned that forwarding or sharing such content on social media could lead to serious legal repercussions.

Visas and Legal Ramifications: In response to concerns about visa restrictions, Bakheet clarified that there are no blanket restrictions on UAE visas for Pakistanis. However, he acknowledged that the visa issuance process has become more stringent to ensure compliance with the country’s laws. The consul general assured that Pakistanis are still being granted visas and are provided with all possible facilities at the consulate. However, those involved in spreading propaganda are being scrutinized and questioned regarding their visa applications.

Call for Unity: Bakheet urged the Pakistani community to refrain from engaging in any activities that could jeopardize their stay in the UAE. He encouraged them to focus on positive contributions and to explore the beautiful northern areas of Pakistan or other tourist destinations within their own country before considering travel to Dubai.
