What prize money do Super Bowl LVIII winners and losers receive?

Going to Disney World and getting those shiny rings is awesome, but for NFL players, the Super Bowl also means some extra money.

Sure, the glory and having that Vince Lombardi Trophy are great, but there’s also a nice payday for every player who hit the field in Super Bowl LVIII. The exact amount each player gets depends on a few things.

So, how much do the winners of Super Bowl LVIII get paid?
According to the latest agreement between the NFL Players Association and the NFL, each member of the winning team will receive $164,000. That’s $7,000 more than last year. If a team wins the 2025 Super Bowl, the payout will be $171,000.

And what about the losers of Super Bowl LVIII?
Losing is tough, but the NFL softens the blow with a payment of $89,000 for each player on the losing team. Next year, the losing team will get $96,000 per player.

Do all players get the same amount?
Nope, it depends on how long they’ve been in the league and their roster status. Some players might get only half of the amounts mentioned earlier. Here’s the breakdown:

Players get the full bonus if…

  • They played at least three previous games in the regular season or playoffs and are on the team’s active or inactive list during the Super Bowl.
  • They played at least eight previous games (regular or post-season), whether they’re on the active/inactive list or not.
  • They’re a veteran player who got injured during the regular season but is still under contract.

Players get 50% of the bonus if…

  • They played fewer than three previous games in the regular season or playoffs and are on the team’s active or inactive list during the Super Bowl.
  • They’re not on the active/inactive list but played between three and seven games during the regular season or playoffs.
  • They’re a first-year player who got injured during the regular season but is still under contract.
