There’s a cool space event happening next month on April 8th! It’s called a total solar eclipse, which means the moon will completely block the sun for a short while, making it dark in the daytime.
This eclipse is a big deal and millions of people are expected to travel to see it, especially in places like Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Maine, and New York. However, all these visitors might cause problems with cell phone reception. Cell phone companies are bringing in extra equipment to try and keep things working, but there could still be dropped calls and slow texts.
The eclipse will also affect how much solar energy gets produced, especially in Texas. Places along the path of the eclipse, where you can see the whole sun get blocked, will be most affected.
This eclipse is something special you don’t want to miss, but never look directly at the sun, not even with sunglasses! It can hurt your eyes.
If you want to watch the eclipse safely, you can use special eclipse glasses or a pinhole projector.
There might be some problems with cell phone service in places where lots of people are going to see the eclipse. You can try using Wi-Fi calling on your phone if your regular signal cuts out.
