WhatsApp users around the world experienced an outage on Wednesday that lasted for several hours.
The messaging app went down around noon PST, preventing users from sending or receiving messages. This comes after a similar issue impacted Meta-owned services, including Facebook and Instagram, last month.
WhatsApp acknowledged the problem on social media, stating they were working on a fix. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, also confirmed the outage and attributed it to an issue with their Cloud API.
After a few hours of disruption, WhatsApp announced their services were restored.
While the exact cause of the outage remains unclear, this incident highlights the importance of these messaging platforms for many users who rely on them to stay connected.
