Video games are super popular these days, making tons of money!
Because of that, many tech companies are trying to get in on the action. YouTube just launched a new program called Playables, where you can play over 75 games for free on your phone or computer. You can find Playables on the YouTube side menu and play classics like chess or popular mobile games like Angry Birds. This isn’t YouTube’s first try at gaming – they offered a small selection of games to paying members last year, but it didn’t last long.
It turns out that offering casual games is a great way to keep people using a service, so other companies like LinkedIn are doing it too! Even news organizations like The New York Times and Netflix are getting into gaming. Google tried a different gaming service called Stadia a few years ago, but it didn’t work out.
