Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is kept, was kept safe from a terrorist attack.

Adiala Jail, a well-known prison where former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his close associates are held, avoided a terrorist attack on Thursday night.

Law enforcement agencies successfully thwarted the terror attempt at the Central Jail Rawalpindi, located in the city of Rawalpindi. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the police arrested three militants.

The detained attackers, who were reportedly from Afghanistan, had plans to attack the important jail. The authorities recovered the latest weapons and a significant amount of ammunition from them. The attackers have been moved to undisclosed locations.

The recovered items included automatic heavy weapons, ammunition, hand grenades, explosives, and maps.

After the arrests, the police conducted a search operation in the vicinity of the jail to ensure safety.

Adiala Jail is currently facing issues of overcrowding, holding prisoners at twice its capacity. Notably, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood and former CM Punjab Elahi, is among the detainees in this prison. The security measures taken by the authorities prevented a potential security threat to the facility.
