PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for nationwide protests starting September 13 to protest against the recent crackdown on its leadership following the Islamabad rally on September 8.
The decision was made during a PTI core committee meeting held in Peshawar, which included key leaders like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The protests will address the arrests of PTI leaders that took place on the assembly floor and will also critique the recent legislative moves aimed at disrupting PTI’s rally.
In response to the events in Parliament, the Speaker has promised that actions will be taken against those responsible, including filing FIRs.
PTI leader Salman Akram Raja, speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, criticized the last-minute legislation aimed at stopping PTI’s rally. He argued that rallies should not be abruptly ended and condemned the idea that only those who conform are acceptable, calling it an attack on the people’s rights.
