Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the Chairman of PTI, spoke out on Thursday about the need for former ambassador Asad Majeed to give his side of the story.
He said this after meeting with Imran Khan in jail. Gohar said it’s been a while since Donald Lu made statements, but Majeed hasn’t responded yet. Gohar believes Lu’s claims are false and wants a new investigation. He also said PTI trusts the courts to handle Imran’s case and won’t bargain for his release.
Gohar also talked about Imran’s sister wanting action against Lu and discussed the Al-Qadir Trust issue. He criticized the treatment they received in court compared to others like Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.
During his meeting with Imran, Gohar discussed political matters and approved the appointment of Sher Afzal Marwat as the Public Accounts Committee chairman. He assured that PTI’s concerns about reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be addressed.
Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Raoof Hasan talked about a diplomatic cable discussed in the US Congress. He said Imran told the truth about it, and it’s not classified anymore. Hasan criticized Donald Lu’s statements and called for an open trial of the case.
Former Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister Khalid Khurshid also demanded accountability for those involved in conspiring against Imran Khan. Imran Khan’s lawyer, Naeem Haider Panjutha, said Imran was wrongly accused in the cipher case and called for action against the real culprits.
