Visitor Ban Imposed at Adiala Jail Due to Security Concerns

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has placed a ban on visits to Adiala jail, including all meetings with prisoners, until October 18. This restriction extends to lawyers, political figures, and family members, including those wishing to meet PTI founder Imran Khan.

The ban has been enforced due to heightened security concerns ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Islamabad. Authorities have implemented strict security measures across the twin cities, including Adiala jail, in preparation for the event.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi accused PTI of attempting to disrupt the summit but assured that the government is focused on ensuring the peaceful execution of the meeting.

Security teams from SCO member countries have already begun arriving in Islamabad, and law enforcement agencies are working on detailed plans for safeguarding the event. The Army has also been deployed in the federal capital to maintain security for the summit, scheduled for October 15-16.
